In 2016, Bliss was engaged by Telstra to revitalise the design of their popular WordPress blog, Telstra Exchange. Exchange is Telstra’s ideas hub designed to provide news, insights and opinions around how we connect to the world using technology. As the site’s audience is extremely savvy and at the forefront of digital in Australia, our design needed to step up to the mark and be at the cutting edge.
The biggest challenge we faced was to create an online experience that would retain users on the site. The audience for Exchange is very tech literate, online all the time, and used to getting information from multiple sources. Making Telstra Exchange part of their digital diet – something they consumed regularly, bookmarked, and spent time on beyond the breaking stories – demanded we think very differently about what a blog can offer.
Our solution enables the Telstra team to tell stories in a variety of ways. The design provides several visual options – so regardless of the type of content, it could be presented quickly and easily, while looking great. The site has full rich media capabilities for publishing videos, lists, various article types, and even quizzes. The site maximises the WordPress framework, and has the flexibility to evolve as the needs of Telstra Exchange and their users grow into the future.
