The Museum of Australian Democracy (MOAD) at Old Parliament House is a living museum of social and political history, located in a nationally listed heritage building in Parkes, Canberra. The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House helps people to understand Australia’s social and political history by interpreting the past and present and exploring the future.
This Prime Ministers' website was developed by the MOAD at Old Parliament House, in collaboration with the Network of Prime Ministerial Research and Collecting Agencies and other valued partners who offer and support content, collections and participation opportunities relating to prime ministers.
When MOAD approached Bliss to redesign the website, their legacy website was developed on Ruby on Rails and heavily dependent on a technical team for updates. They wanted to migrate the website over to Drupal CMS for ease of update, as well as utilise Drupal’s headless architecture for API integration. The site had custom integration that was developed to syndicate content from various external data sources, which our team needed to recreate using PHP/Drupal.
For the redesign, our Human-Centred Design team wanted to recreate an immersive experience that is a true reflection of the museum itself. We wanted the design to take users on a journey from history to the present through visual storytelling and interactions.
The website was successfully launched in April 2022. The website is a visually striking and engaging experience, a proud collaboration between our team and the Museum.
