Lifeline Australia is a national charity providing 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services to people across Australia. Its digital platforms are a critical entry point for help seekers, volunteers, and member organisations accessing life-saving services.

Lifeline’s existing Umbraco 8 CMS was approaching end-of-life, creating an urgent need for platform replacement. At the same time, its digital presence had grown fragmented across multiple websites, microsites, and legacy systems — increasing operational complexity and creating inconsistent user experiences.

Key challenges included consolidating multiple digital properties, improving the usability and discoverability of the Support Toolkit, supporting diverse member organisations, and meeting strict requirements around security, accessibility, and Australian data sovereignty.

The solution

Bliss Digital partnered with Lifeline to design and deliver a unified Drupal 10 CMS/DXP hosted on secure, managed AWS infrastructure.

The new platform consolidates Lifeline’s national website, Support Toolkit, OTLA microsites, and member organisation content into a single, scalable ecosystem. A component-based design system and intuitive authoring tools enable internal teams to manage content efficiently, while a centralised service status messaging capability allows real-time updates across critical support channels.

Security and compliance were embedded throughout the solution, with IRAP-aligned controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and hosting within Australian data centres.

The outcome

Lifeline now has a secure, accessible, and future-ready digital foundation that significantly reduces fragmentation and operational overhead.

Content is easier to manage, critical information is clearer and more discoverable for help seekers, and the platform provides the confidence and scalability required to support Lifeline’s essential services well into the future.
